Best Substitue for an Appetite Suppressant – Cheeky service by "hot" twenty-something waiters is the biggest draw at this dinosaur. The food was terrible: the meat loaf was rubbery and hard, like it had been microwaved! The replacement chicken (offered by the commiserating waiter) was tender but over-seasoned and ultimately appetite-killing. At $45, including my drink and a pity tip, this was culinary travesty. Too bad! Mark's has a high standing in the community and a good public image. If only their food was up to the bar.... read more
Excellent! – I had not been to MarK's in years and decided to bring two friends from out of town. We were all very impressed by the food and its presentation. Great quality for the price. The cuter than average waiters in this predominantly gay restaurant certainly add to the atmosphere also. Nice comfortable modern space without a lot of fuss. Using the restaurant's valet parking is easiest on La Cienega.
Not Just For Mondays Anymore – We heard about a wednesday lobster dinner special (under $30) and decided to check Mark's on a regular night. First off, vibe felt totally different-- a bit more "metro" than the crowd and food of mondays i've been. Also, surprised to see the menu was very different from monday. Really big, which is kind of a red flag to me-- wonder if they can do it ALL great. Our ADD made us feel better about our pre determined plan. Our fourth friend decided to go it alone and venture, waiters recomendation,... read more
Sunday Brunch! & Monday's – Sunday's Brunch is great! very mellow and food is awsome! (wine half price all day) If you're on a low budget Monday's is perfect! Half price night, 1/2 off for fine dinning!
are you here for "sightseeing" - you will ike it...otherwise not – monday night - half off menu night. i ordered tuna, it was sort of unchewable...and the portion was very small. thank god i wasn't really hungry in the first place. the price for what i got was ok, though come on, even though it's half off, it sitll has to fill you up...no? drinks were pretty good, not half off though as far as i can remember... i don't think this place is worth going back to...
Marks is fun until you get the food – A fun gay scene...especailly on Monday nights when they offer all there food at half price. Cute and very friendly waiters....but some of the worst food in LA. The chicken is dry...the salmon overcooked and the meatloaf is terrible. Not worth your money and anyone that says it is on here....probably works there.
Disappointing Food – This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend, who I later found out had never eaten there. I was really disappointed with the quality of the food. My salmon was undercooked, the vegetables were overcooked and nothing else tasted that good. The wait staff was very nice though. Needless to say, I would never go back.
Know before you go... – My husband and I visited the restaurant for my birthday after booking online through opentable. We were not prepared for what we were about to experience. The "art work" on the walls was not very tasteful and appeared to cater to a select group. I was the only female in the entire place. The food was wonderful, especially the coconut shrimp, but when my husband disliked his mashed potatoes, the server told us he would investigate and mentioned he has "never seen a potato in the kitchen"! He tried to h... read more
