Excellent place !!! – I went to manhattan eyeworks last week for my first pair of reading glasses. I saw Dr. Gross and he was thorough and friendly and answered all of my questions ( like: "Why me doctor" !!! ). Afterward, i tried on about 30 pairs of glasses from the very patient sales girl. We all voted and i picked out this really nice tortoise round pair made by Oliver Peoples. My wife loved them alot. I picked them uponly 2 days later and i could not believe how well i was seeing. I recommendeed this place to my co work... read more
3 months and still no glasses – I came here in May as they took my vision plan and I wanted new glasses. After the eye test the guy indicated that he was writing a new prescription for my right eye. I said to him at the time that this was suprising as I could see perfectly through the current prescription. So the glasses come in a week or so later and I try them on only to find that the correction for the right eye was wrong. He retests me and comes to the conclusion that my current prescription, as I asserted to him at the ... read more
Not worth the trouble. – I have three big problems with the Manhattan Eye works on 23rd. First, they have attempted 3 times to write a prescription for my glass and my vision out of the left lense is still blurry. Second, when I went back to get the lenses fixed the first two times the Doctors assisting me were awkward if not rude. Third, when I went in to have the frames adjusted, the arm was nearly pulled from the frame. Afterwards I was told that the frames were defective by one of the doctors and that "all adjustments ar... read more
Hoping for a great experience but did not deliver – I had a poor experience here which surprised me considering the other reviews. I ordered a pair of glasses and was told special reflective lenses were included in my insurance plan. A week later I went to pick up the glasses and was told the lenses in fact weren't included and I would have to pay the extra money. Instead of biting the cost when I told them I hadn't even wanted special lenses and only got them because I was told they were included, they said they would send ... read more
Best Eyeglass Store in Manhattan – I've been a customer/ patient of manhattan eyeworks on 9th ave since they opened 3 years ago. The doctor was great and knowledgeable. The sales people are not only competent but are funny and outgoing and and are very helpful in selecting really stylish glasses. The frame selection there is probably the best on the west side. I have worn glasses my whole life and would not shop any where else!! Every visit to manhattan eyeworks has not only been a refreshing change to my apperance, but i al... read more
Very helpful service, good choice of frames – Looking elsewhere online, this company gets rave reviews, so I was surprised at the negativity here. I went to the 23rd Street office for new glasses on United Healthcare. My first visit was just to scope it out, and I was impressed. Tanisha helped me, she was thorough, amusing and made helpful suggestions on what suited me. Choose from Oliver Peoples, Paul Smith, Gucci etc and also lightweight Swiss frames. She made time to write down all the style numbers and what discounts I w... read more
Rude and Terrible Service – My initial visit with the doctor was fine and getting my first set of contacts was no problem. However, I recently tried to order contacts and the sales manager Marina had no clue how to reorder contacts. She could not verify my prescription. I asked for a 90 day pack of contacts - and she kept asking is it for both eyes? How stupid can you one be - yes obliviously it is for both eyes. Yes, I admit I have different prescriptions for each eye. But why would one not order equal amounts for each eye.... read more
it took them a month to get my contacts - but maybe longer because they are still MIA – ive never written one of these before but i am now because i am DEEPLY UNSATISFIED. this is my first time using contacts and this place seemed good as any to order them - most of all it is close to my work. anyway - i went and had my exam and that went fine - doctor was nice and all - and i was told my contacts would be in a week later. so i was fine with that. 2 weeks later i call to ask if maybe i had missed their call somehow - i wasnt... read more
not worth the trouble – The doctor here (Dr. Gross) is pretty competent, however the front office staff is consistently rude, unhelpful, and deceptive. I've had two of my annual exams here and have dealt with them on several occasions when I was reordering contacts. On one of those occasions, one of the staff told me that he was too busy to verify my prescription to the contact lens supplier I was using. When I went in for my annual exam recently, I was told that I needed to pay an additional $62 above my normal insurance co... read more
