Learn Some Customer Service While You Are In The Country Which Prides On Customer Service – We went to this restaurant three times thinking that this will be a home place after we had a long day. My most favorite restaurant!! I can't go there enough!!! – I absolutely love this restaurant! The waitors are friendly and will remember you the next visit. The service is not always the fastest, but I would still say it is good. The only problem with timing that I have experienced has been in an overly busy setting, so that is excusable. The food is absolutely great. I love all the appetizers, the soups are amazing, and the dosas are just awesome! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
If you want to experience BAD service, this is the place for you !! – Service is APPALLING ! I don't normally air my opinion but in this case I am compelled to do so. Best Indian Vegetarian Restaurant, Period! – I wish we lived closer to the North DeKalb area. Atlanta has many excellent Indian restaurants, but Madras is the best. We love Chicken Tika, but here, we don't miss meat at all. How many things can you do with vegetables? The preparations and spices, are out of this world. TRY SOME OTHER PLACE FIRST. – We have gone to this restaurant several times during the past 3 years. Each time we find NO change in the menu. The waiters are impersonal. The place looks dated. The food also has been inconsistent. The last two times we went, we found the chutni to be toooo salty and the Sambar served with most of the South Indian dishes tasted nothing like the original. HORRIBLE Service – I have been there three times and by far it has the worst service I have ever seen in my life. The food is very average, any other south Indian place is just as good. About three years ago, I would rate it very highly, but over the years the food and the service have taken a big nose dive...DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE....any other place food would be better and I have no doubt that the service would be much much better too...
Above Avg Food...Below Avg Service – The food (especially South Indian dosas & stuff) is above average. More and more Atlanta area restaurants are starting to offer decent south Indian fare. Beware: Nothing related to Madras or Saravana Bhavan - just exploitation – I am from Madras and when I went to this restaurant without noticing the word 'Madras' and thought it was authentic Saravana Bhavan. I was shocked when I noticed that it is not related either to the great city or the best South Indian restaurant chain. People there dont speak Tamil - the languages of Saravana Bhavan ( In fact they are all north Indians and dont even know anything south Indian ) and the food is definitely not South Indian at all.
