Nothing special – I went after hearing people rave about this place and was not impressed. The whole experience felt a little gimmicky to me. I don't see any point to not having a written menu, the list of "warnings" about the place (no changes, doesn't accomodate allergies, don't you dare complain about anything!) is amusing but a little ridiculous. This is one of the best Restaurants I've been too. The owner is one of the best guys out there. A true genuine soul. A very classy place with respect for tradition! The food is delicious and homemade just like you going to your moms house for dinner! Do you ask your host to change your menu for you? You know she made it with love so you enjoy. Worst Dining Experience in 2008, 2007, 2006 – Went to this restaurant last weekend for the first time..Granted I am not a celebrity so maybe that was part of the reason for this experience... We had reservations for ten o clock a party of nine for this family style restaurant. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. I always try to respect the fact that different people will have different opinions, but in this case I fail to see how anyone could come away with a negative impression of this place. Moms kitchen – This place is just like eating at your Grandmothers on a sunday night- with your mother / grandmother cooking all day long- The gravy is amazing- the pasta is perfect. RUDE and NOT Friendly – I have been a regular at this hot spot for over 5 years, the past few times we went here the service was unexplainably rude!! The food as well hasnt been up to par. The one thing they are known for is there awesome cheese and hot pepper in olive oil that is gone and substituted for gross, dry cheese and rosemary bread. No one in our party would eat it! Extremely rude and arrogant, Overpriced... – In a few words like I said extremely rude concept and service (like our way or the highway), first they have the menu written on a blackboard that is half covered by a bunch of flowers and they won't move them so you can read and decide, there are absolutely NO modifications of your order no even if you are allergic to a certain ingredient. Macaluso's is an upper class, family owned restaurant with the best service, intimate atmosphere, and menu we've seen in America. Their appetizer of french bread with olive oil, fresh ground herbs, pepper and parmesan is accompanied by red and green chili peppers - fantastic. I recommend their 3 inch meatball entree.
To all the ridiculous critics... – Hey!!! Don't get mad at Mike's spot because you can't handle the authentics. You want cheap pasta, go to the Olive Garden, and Fanuccis?!?!?!?!
