About this business

This Italian trattoria caters to a young, attractive downtown crowd, but one that appreciates good food as much as a hip scene. Lupa is co-owned by celebrity chef Mario Batali and restaurateur Joe Bastianich, also partners in Esca and Babbo Ristorante e Enoteca. The waiters at Lupa are knowledgeable about the food, and prices are surprisingly moderate. Signature dishes range from home-cured Mortadella to excellent pasta. We tried casarecce with short rib ragu and bucatini all’amatriciana here, both were very good.

Delicious pastas. Great wine list. Very cute place with an authentic feel.

Upscale italian flare. The spaghetti carbonara is the best we’ve ever had and could give Italy a real competition, with perfectly creamy sauce and well-rendered pancetta.

Middle of summer and don’t have AC on. Music was terrible. Need to read an Italian dictionary to figure out the menu (everyone googling on phone to figure out menu). Food is good, not great.

Cozy place for a light, romantic candlelit dinner. Save some room for the delicious s’mores gelato. They have a pasta tasting menu that comes with wine pairings and is good if you’re famished.
