This Italian trattoria caters to a young, attractive downtown crowd, but one that appreciates good food as much as a hip scene. Lupa is co-owned by celebrity chef Mario Batali and restaurateur Joe Bastianich, also partners in Esca and Babbo Ristorante e Enoteca. The waiters at Lupa are knowledgeable about the food, and prices are surprisingly moderate. Signature dishes range from home-cured Mortadella to excellent pasta. For antipasti-Carciofi Alla Giudia or lingua and teste from the meat tray. Ricotta gnocchi was amazing as was the bucatini all'americana. Sunday braciola was very soft and tender. For dessert tartufo
Do the Roman tasting menu and split a bottle of wine. Each pasta was delicious. The ravioli randomly stood out. You will leave stuffed!!

Finally tried this place on a Thurs 10pm. A candle lit/dim ambiance was good. Warm prosciutto salad/ cacio e pepe/ carbonara were all very simple but flavorful. Tartufo was very rich/ hazelnut-y!!
Get the warm pancetta salad. Yum.
Romantic and authentic. A great place for dates.
The gnocchi is made here with ricotta rather than typical potato so makes for a creamier dreamier version!!
My love for Italian started here. I still dream of their ragu. It's inspired a trend to try ragu everywhere I go, nothing has come close.
