We stopped in to the Loan Star in Effingham IL on our way home from vacation after being on the road all day and we're hungry and looking forward to relaxing and having a good dinner at Loan Star. We checked before we walked in to make sure it wasn't close to closing since it was 8:45 and the sign said they were open until 11:00 so we thought we were good to go. The food was good and fresh. My only complaint is that The tables are sticky with what I think is a build up of grease over the years. They feel gross.
We have been eating here for years, and enjoyed it. But it seems to have gone downhill. The rolls are always so wonderful, but tonight they were hard and cold. My salmon was fair, but not as good as usual. The sweet potato was barely warm, and the grilled mushrooms tasted like they came right out of the jar. Food was good but coordination and service was the worse I've seen.
The service was excellent but we was there 2 hours after opening and they ran out of baking potatoes and the steaks was over over cooked. And we ordered them med rare came out past well done. There was food under the table the chairs was dirty !!!! Other than service things was not impressive told the manager and she could have cared a less !!!!! Hate to be like this but we won't go back
