The pros: Litchfield Heights is a great place to call home. They are very large (over 1000sq for a 2 bedroom) plus you have a basement. The views of the hills are beautiful! The townhome style apartments are fantastic with an upstairs and downstairs and really have that house feel. They have a great layout and are very sunny and bright with large windows. They also have a great & friendly maintenance team that gets the job done right & quickly. The heat is included and works very well! They are very affordable and clean. Most of the neighbors were extremely kind. There were birthday parties that all the kids were invited to and everyone had a great time. The cons: There are a few downsides. The laundry is on site, it is expensive, and it closes at 9pm. $1.75 for the washer and $1.75 for the dryer can really add up. It was always a pain to get $10 in quarters and that didn't even cover 3 full loads. It is unfortunate that these apartments don't have washers/dryers in them. The winter months are a real headache. They plow the road and you literally will have 6ft of snow on top your car. Soon later, the landlord will be knocking on your door to tell you to shovel out your car or threatened to have it towed. You are not allowed to park your car on the side road as the police do not allow it. It is all mess and a real nightmare but is to be expected living through a Connecticut winter. During heavy rain storms, our basement had some flooding. This happened twice during the year we lived there. For the most part, noise levels were low. There was always that one or two tenants who seemed to cause problems (Loud, cursing, arguing with another tenant). We just avoided them and this didn't detour us from living here. Some of the minor downsides are they don't have a dishwasher and you have to buy your own a/c. The upstairs can get really hot in the summer but is manageable (we only bought an a/c for the downstairs). Overall, I would highly recommend Litchfield Heights. Winsted is a great town and is safe with virtually no crime. The surrounding areas like Torrington, Canton (visit the Shoppes at Farmington Valley) and Avon are all beautiful. There is plenty of grass for your child to play and ride their bike. You won't be disappointed!
