THE STORY OF LENNY’S: Family Owned and Operated for over 40 Years ​My father, Joseph DeCandia, was born in Bari, Italy and came to America in 1956 at the age of 18. He took odd jobs as a dishwasher, a baker and a butcher. In 1958 he took a job at “Lenny’s Pizza” in Brooklyn on 86th Street where he started to learn the pizza business. A year later he went to work at “Lenny’s Pizza” on Nostrand Avenue which he later purchased in 1960. In 1969 my father decided to expand and opened “Lenny’s Pizza” on Cross Bay Blvd and 160th Avenue.
