About this business

This is a festive restaurant, well loved for many years by neighborhood patrons. The restaurant has a delightful rooftop terrace for alfresco dining. The dining room has the look and feel of a cozy cafe. The decor is simple, with white walls, white tablecloths and gilt-framed paintings. Blending Spanish, Mexican and Tex-Mex traditions, the menu is strong on fajitas and grilled entrees. Classic paellas and the marinated pork dishes are also excellent.

Citysearch Editorial Review – Tex-Mex cuisine is the standout at Dupont's Lauriol Plaza, and the three-story restaurant--with ample patio seating--is Texas-sized by D.C. standards. In summer, the roof deck and outdoor patio are a sure bet for kicking back with pitchers of margaritas, though the indoor dining options--with an entire wall of windows--make it a popular destination year-round. Expect Mexican dishes such as enchiladas, chimichangas, fajitas, tacos and burritos, with selections of seasonal specialties to spice it ... read more

Best Mexican fare in the area There's not much Mexican food to be had in DC (in my experience), but this is the best I've had. It's a very large space, and I've generally had good luck there with large groups at lunch time. Be prepared to wait upwards of an hour for a table on a summer weekend evening.

I've been a loyal customer for several years. They are known for mexican food and their frozen margaritas, and of course they make them on the rocks too. Most people go in groups and order pitchers, although I've gone alone and gotten take out on occasion. They do have excellent food too. I love the big monterey salad, it's huge. They also have excellent salmon, and they make very good enchilladas and tacos of course. It's all good. Just gotta watch your bean intake. he he

make reservations This place is large but still manages to fill up because the food is delicious! It's not just Mexican food either; my group all had more Cuban-inspired dishes. We also had mojitos and a pitcher of margaritas and they were good.

Decent Sports Bar...bad dance club – Went out Thursday night to watch World Series game...decent sports bar w/ diverse crowd, young & old, black & white, fat & skinny, etc. The sports bar was pretty good, but the back room, which was turned into a dance club this night, was atrocious...fat chicks grinding on each other, vanilla ice looking guys dancing around, etc. I drank a couple of Makers & waters, had a few good laughs at the people stuck in the 90s, and then walked up the street to a better atmosphere.

Pretty Good Mexican This places makes pretty good Mexican food, nothing like you can get in California, but good and fresh. Their portions are large and tasty. The wait can be horrendous at times but try their margaritas while you're waiting. They are excellent. They offer every one a beeper so that can notify you when your table is ready -- it's that crowded. They also have good chips and salsa. They have lots of outdoor seating and I recommend it when the weather is nice. PROS: CONS: Wait

Business Is Good! – I went to this restaurant on the border of Adams-Morgan and Dupont Circle on a Tuesday night. Good thing that I got there at 630pm. By 7pm, the place was packed! The selection is huge, ranging from the standard Mexican fare (burritos, enchiladas) to more exotic Latin fare (Cuban skirt steak, Spanish paella). Service was good, fast and efficient, which is a plus. Overall, I was very impressed! Also, I was surprised that the place was filled up even on a weeknight, considering their capacity (split level se... read more
