It's very nice looking, but the staff, drinks and food were not so good.
Unfortunately La Playa has not lived up to its expectations. Most disappointing is the rudeness of servers. As a local, I have given the restaurant several chances. Even after learning of a friend getting food poisoning, I kept an open mind. I think I'm done. Hopefully they will find a new tenant soon.
We stayed at Gulf Place over spring break and ate here twice. My husband went first and said food was awful - I just thought he had bad experience. I went the next night and had the worst excuse for fried shrimp I have ever eaten - it was over breaded and over cooked with limp fries on the side. I'm not a picky eater and have never sent a meal back nor did I this time but I did regret not doing so....
Great quaint cast away eatery with perfectly seasoned seafood.
Great atmosphere and food! Love that we can bring our Golden with us to dinner!
