In a nutshell: #1 slow service; #2 poor quality; #3 small portions, and #4 overpriced. Our poor server had to keep apologizing for what was beyond her control: "experiencing 'a hold' in the kitchen". We ended up taking our food to go after such a long wait. When we complained the manager, we were met with a blank-stare attitude that begged us to go away. No apologies, nothing. FANTASTIC! The food was amazing and so was our waitress. The shrimp and grits was super yummy. Had a little heat , but not too much . Hubby got the fish tacos with grouper and he loved them! The sweet tea is amazing too! So glad we decided to stop in. Relaxing , outdoor, patio where you feel the Gulf breeze and right under the palm trees. :-) The next time we come back to Santa Rosa we will be eating here one or two nights!

Contrary to the posts from 2014, my wife and I enjoyed La Playa. The food was good, Some of the dishes being Carribean style was a nice change from all the other same ole same ole. The appetizers were very good, including the salads.

I love this place! I love the food, especially blackened fish tacos, the atmosphere across from the beach, the live music, the staff has always been nice to me and the owner works his butt off and is an excellent host!
The best mahi mahi fish tacos I've ever had ! Second time here this trip !! Great seafood, exceptional service and fantastic location.

Firstly, I typically do not put forth the effort to provide reviews as they are fruitless, but my first visit to La Playa was extremely poor. The serving staff was rude and my wife and I finished our entire meal without a visit from our waitor. Secondly, the violent food poisoning I experienced 15 minutes after the meal was alarming. I would find it a diservice if I did not write a review encouraging everyone to find another restaurant nearby.
