Ghastly olive oil – Unpalatable, bitter olive oil which was sent away, along with the bread plates and unfinished bread contaminated with it, and butter ordered. Waiter didn't bring new bread plates, and when asked for them, took them off the next table. Wait staff will not step aside to let you pass in a narrow aisle, just stares you down and crowds by you. When calling to make a reservation, was told they didn't take them; asking about opening time, was told "noon." Arrived at 11:45 a. m. to line up to be sure and get a go... read more
Great italian food! – I am italian and for me, dine at La Piazza, is like being at home. I go there at least once a week and I have never been disappointed: I love the location, the service is always attentive and friendly and the management is very professional. The food is excellent and really close to what you can find in a good restaurant in Italy. I recommend the rollino as appetizer, the pizza is like the original and all the pasta and risotto are always al dente.
True, it's not great Italian food, BUT..... – sitting outside at the bar and watching celebs and LAs oddest walk by is always LOADS of fun! And David and Darius are the nicest bartenders on the planet! They always remember us and often have drinks at the ready before we even have a chance to sit down at a table. The pizza is not bad, but the atmosphere far outweights the food.
Hottest effing waiter!!! – Wow, there is one hell of a Belgian waffle working at this joint. I could hardly contain myself through my 2 bottles of wine with my girlfriends. We all LOVE the SERVICE. I got this fellows name. Maybe if you check it out, request DARIO as your server. He sure served us well...wink wink. The food is average, but the staff makes for it.
Great Seafood – I thought the food was average. The service was horrible. Our waiter never could get it together. The hostess and manager were very rude. Be sure that your entire party is with you when you ask to be seated. Even though you are prepared to drop some cash on dinner and drinks, they won't seat you. Don't get your hopes up for fast friendly service. Although it was a nice place to sit after a long day of shopping.
worst service – Was there with my hubby for our anniversary and since it was so nice to look at with the water fountain as the view..we decided to have our dinner there...and we were so totally disappointed with the service..waited for so long for our orders and also asked for tabasco and the waiter was waiting in front of us cz they need it back to the kitchen..what on earth is that? don't they have extra's for that? ask for the check and took forever again...though the pizza was good but not really that yummy and perfect f... read more
Food for the Tastebud-less Tourist – From the multiple times I've passed La Piazza at the The Grove, the outdoor seating area is always packed to brim with smiling, happy customers. However, like most things in LA, looks can be deceiving. The only possible explanation I could come up with is that all these smiling, happy customers must be TOURISTS (or totally DRUNK)! THEY HAVE TO BE!!! Otherwise, why in the world would anyone with at least 1/4s worth of fully functional taste buds, eat THE TERRIBLE FOOD they serve here?!? We... read more
This place is awesome if u want bad food – i went here with my girlfriend thinking that we would get some awesome italian food. we were originally going to go to Maggiano's but it looked like we'd have to wait an eternity to get seated there. we were promptly seated at La Piazza (the only good thing, but i guess there's a reason why there wasn't a wait.) ok, well let's cut to the chase... minestrone soup was bland, highly don't recommend it. both our pasta dishes were hard and flavorless. bread was cold. when the waitress to... read more
A weekend favorite – I have been to La Piazza more than a handful of times. I find the crowd that works there to be friendly. I usually sit in the outdoor bar area, which is always waited on promptly with the bartenders. The drinks are delicious and the food I have gotten there - mushroom chicken & pizzas - is delicious. And you cannot beat the people watching at The Grove.
