We love La Paz. have been coming here for 30 years. Love the Patio....
La Paz ("The peace" in Spanish) is actually the capital city of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur (BCS). So that being said I was excited to try their fish taco that I spied on the menu while waiting in a shady spot by the canal for a patio table to open up. It seems odd to me that The Green Turtle RIGHT next door said they couldn't allow dogs on the patio for heath code reasons, but La Paz does. Order the Queso, throw back some Margarita's and loosen up man you are at LaPaz! I can smell their signature scent from San Francisco. Old Man me orders the cheese enchildeas and chicken taco, Dad goes for the cheese enchildea with guac tostada, Mama goes for the special and sis normally heads for the Fajita I feel like I am ten years old again. Great margaritas, salsa. this is a wonderful Frederick landmark offering the best margaritas and salsa in town. a great patio and a good offering for a variety of ages - even babies!
This is by far my favorite restaurant in the downtown area. The atmosphere is fun and entertaining, the location is amazing, and the food has a fun American twist to it. I hear many people negatively criticize the food here, but I tend to disagree. It's not your traditional Mexican taste, and some items may have a simple taste/feel to them, but overall it's a fun menu, at a great price that has something for everyone.
