Service is horrible - McKinney location I LOVE Mediterranean food, so I was excited when La Duni opened its doors. I have been there in groups of 4 several times, and in a larger group once. In the larger group, the service was even more horrendous, with the orders not being taken until we had been there for over 45 minutes. After we had paid the bill for our party, which was over $300, one of the people in our party did not know the bill had been paid and the waitress had NEVER gone around the table and asked if anyone want... read more
Go for the weekend brunch – I have been to La Duni several times for brunch and dinner, and would definitely say go for the brunch and find another place for dinner. I didn't find their dinner menu especially wonderful, but the brunch is what La Duni excells at. The ambience is always great and the brunch menu is wonderful. Sometimes the waitstaff can put a person off, but I've found the food to overcome that issue.
consistently delicious Never had a bad thing here. French hot chocolate and brioche french toast are dreamily delicious. Cuban sandwich is on the best bread. Yucca fries and eggs benedict are fabulous.
Afternoon Tea - THUMBS DOWN SERVICE – I've been happily dining at La Duni since I moved to Dallas in 2002. I l-o-v-e the food, the ambiance, and until recently, the service. In late March, I called the McKinney location to schedule an afternoon tea (thought it might be different to host a friend's baby shower/tea somewhere other than the stuffy (but lovely) Adolphus). I called two moths in advance to reserve a table for 8 and got their voice mail. I left a detailed message with my contact info. I waited two days and still no... read more
Great Food but save room for the dessert. – The food is excellent. This is not tex-mex, this is South American food with flair. No reservations are taken so expect a wait on the weekends. It is wortht the wait. Save room for the desserts. Our favorites are the quatro leches and the Nutella Cake. We have ordered whole cakes for special occasions. The drinks are very good but they are extremely over priced, especially considering the food is reasonable priced for the quality.
Spotty service but very trendy – Nice, trendy spot with multiple locations in the metroplex. We had dinner at 5pm on a Tuesday night and we were the only customers there. Yet with 6 idle servers standing around, our service was indifferent. The Carne Brasilero was tough, dry, and tasteless, but the Carne Asada was a beautiful, juicy , and flavorful skirt steak which was perfectly done. Deserts are an emphasis here, but tend to be a little too sweet for my tastes.
A Dallas gem – If you're looking for something different and nicer than typical Tex Mex, La Duni is a must visit. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, and friendly, if sometimes varied, service. Traditional items like flautas and enchiladas won't disappoint, but more traditional Latin cuisine like Arepas, plaintains, etc. are worth getting out of your comfort zone and trying. Don't miss the Margharina -- they're excellent version of the typical margarita. And save room for Quatro Leches Cake -- unbelievably yummy. Highly recomm... read more
service is terrible – I have to say, the service when I recently went to La Duni was TERRIBLE. We were a large party and the poor waitress did not know what she was doing. We waited almost an hour for her to take our order! Then at the end she got things on the bill wrong. Honestly, I would not go back simply because of this lousy, non-apologetic service.
Sweet – If youre in the mood for something beautiful, delicious, fun and a little different, I highly recommend La Duni. Offering an interesting, eclectic menu, great food, fabulous deserts and fantastic drinks in an attractive setting, you will not be disappointed.
