La Costa was conceived and developed by Jaime Soltero Sanchez and wife, Francisca Garzon in 1992. Talavera tiling and terracotta pots with long stemmed plants draped multiple archways in the traditional Mexican restaurant. Mouthwatering aromas of arroz con pollo, fajitas and burritos filled the conventional cocina. In 2003, the La Costa location underwent extensive remodeling and development. It was transformed into Barbur Shops. With a desire to maintain a restaurant on its original location, Jaime and Francisca passed the ... read more

How do they stay in business? – Unfortunately, we were lured by a previous reviewer. (Did we visit the same restaurant?) The margaritas were OK, but it was downhill from there. The kitchen took 20 minutes. The food was room temperature, completely bland, devoid of flavor. Refried beans were the worst I have ever had. The enchiladas and tamale were dry and tasteless. Surely 7-11 serves up better Mexican.
Wonderful Experience!! Love this place!!! – I have been coming here since La Costita reopened and I absolutely LOVE IT. The food is amazing!! (my favorites are the chicken tortilla soup, the nachos, and the fish tacos.) They use all fresh ingredients and make their chips and salsa fresh everyday!!! La Costita does have limited parking, but there is parking across the street by the US Bank, which is GREAT considering how many other restraunts you have to walk a mile (downtown!) to get to. Solid Mexican Food – I'm not sure what they mean by "Mexican food with a twist," because the menu is your standard (but large!) Mexican (American style) menu: burritos, tacos, enchiladas, etc. It's good, basic Mexican food. The staff is always really friendly, helpful & professional. It's also a pretty large restaurant (without ever feeling cavernous), so you rarely have to wait for a table. The major drawback is that the parking is extremely limited.
Editorial Review – Mexican food in the heart of Portland for any budget or appetite.
La Costita has a 4 star rating with 219 reviews.
La Costita is closed now. It will open at 11:00 a.m.
