About this business

La Costa was conceived and developed by Jaime Soltero Sanchez and wife, Francisca Garzon in 1992. Talavera tiling and terracotta pots with long stemmed plants draped multiple archways in the traditional Mexican restaurant. Mouthwatering aromas of arroz con pollo, fajitas and burritos filled the conventional cocina. In 2003, the La Costa location underwent extensive remodeling and development. It was transformed into Barbur Shops. With a desire to maintain a restaurant on its original location, Jaime and Francisca passed the ... read more

que sabroso! – The food here is fantastic, and the service is even better. I highly recommend the tacos tijuana. The owner is a really nice guy. This spot is perfect for lunch with a friend (or two). Eat here!!!

Wonderful Mexican food – This is was my third time eating at La Costita on Barbur and it most certainly will not be my last. The food is delicious and at a great price. It is nice to go to a mexican restaurant that has a bit more class. I just ate the Tacos Tijuana and they were the best I've had. It felt I was back in Mexico. I was surpised at how cheap the dinner special was at $7.95. I am definitely recommending this place to my family and friends because we are always at competition to find the best mexican restaurant. Maybe Arizona has the right idea! – Are you serious with this place? If you're a gringo, forget courteous service, good food and decent prices. This place sucks! They are rude, slow, and physically irritated that you are there to eat in the first place. HORRIBLE. I hope they go out of business.

WORST DINNER EVER – This was by far the worst dining experience that we have had in a very very long time. The food was completely overpriced and had absolutely no flavor. My quesedilla was limp and under-cooked and my husband's enchiladas were extremely small, tasteless and the cheese on top was barely melted. The ceasar salad that we ordered really was the worst part of the meal. The lettuce was limp and on the way to being brown, and the croutons on top were straight from a bag. This salad was DISGUSTING and we couldn't b... read more

Horrible Service!! – Went there with my sister a few weeks ago and we had a horrible experience I just had to write about it...for one the waiter did not even smile when we walked in to the bar area for happy hour, threw down the menu and didn't explain where the happy hour was on the menu we had to go searching for it. Took about 10 minutes to bring us some water. Another 15 minutes to bring us our drinks, I ordered a regular margarita where you couldn't even taste the tequila, I asked for a little more tequila and the wait... read more

$40 chips and salsa – Well I,am from Mexico and I really like this restaurant, just because they actually bring a different taste of Mexican Cuisine! is not bad, I met the burritos with sauce and cheese on this side of the border, Mexicanos we do not eat that in Mexico, So for someone to tell me that they really like Mexican Food and go to Taco Bell for dinner and order hard shell tacos with cheese and sauce, no good amigo, this is not your typical mexican restaurant, come on... they problably charge you for some tequilas or... read more

$40 for chips and salsa – I stopped by La Costita with a friend today and ordered the Pina Rellena. My friend ordered the enchilada with the chille relleno and we both had the hibiscus tea. When my plate arrived, a whole pineapple cut in half and covered in melted cheese was presented to me. After pulling back the layer and cheese to taste the shrimp and fish that might lay in the bottom of the sauce, I saw 4 shrimp and a couple of pieces of what tasted like fish that had been frozen for years. It was absolutely terrible. I ... read more

Fast service and friendly staff – We had previously planned on eating somewhere else and that went horribly bad so in a pinch, my sister-in-law called around and found us this place. They were wonderful, got us right in, sat us and had drinks on our table within the first 10 minutes. We only had about an hour to eat and get to the place we were going that night and this place met that requirement and then some. The staff was very nice and the food was good. Thank you and I hope this helps people. This place was is a wonderfu... read more

The pearl does not have Mexican food so we came to the burbs – Great food. We all enjoyed our meals. The service was good and quick and I found the margarita to be delicious. Our total for three of us was $49 before tip with only one alcoholic drink. We will be back!
