Beware... – I was in the hotel for wedding preparations, and gave some mail to the desk clerk as they said they had a mail box. My mail never reached it's destination, including the two rented DVD's that I was returning. It's a shame when a lovely place has a dishonest staff. It also took the valet almost an hour to fetch our car at 11:00 at night.
Great location, awful valet service... – Though the hotel staff was quick to serve us when we needed something, the valet/parking situation was awful. You pay almost $30 for in/out priviledges and overnight parking. BUT, it is almost impossible to ever get your car. We came down at 9 p.m. to go out for dinner was told it would take 40 minutes to get our car which was parked in a garage 2 blocks away!! We had to catch a cab! For check out, we called ahead 30 minutes early to be safe, but then our car did not arrive for 40 min... read more
The only choice – This is the best hotel in town by far. The bar scene is hip but low-key (this is not "The W" crowd.) The service is friendly (If you want attitude, go to the Mondrian), and the food is first class. And if you're into modern French/Asian decor, this is the place for you. This is not your grandma's hotel (go to the Regent for that).
just not worth it – Service was awful, particularly the front desk as well as the sales staff when we booked a few rooms for my family. My cousins stayed at Cartwright which is steps away from this hotel enjoyed much better value - same location, much cheaper, and the bathroom kit was Aveda. I then realized that there are plenty of choices in this town given the rate Rex charges. Learned my lesson and I won't go back.
Small but cute – This hotel has charm - and although it is small, it's a great little place for a weekend getaway. Rooms and lobby are beautifully decorated, service is ok, not great. Great location next to Union Square. The complimentary wine hour was excellent.
One of Kind – This was truly a home away from home. Whenever I come to LA...I stay here...
Excellent service, wonderful sheets, nicely decorated rooms, excellent location. The decor in the lobby and bar area is very classy yet comfortable. I would recommend it.
