Forgettable – The headline says it all. I know I've stayed at this hotel, as I remember all of the bars we went to in the vicinity; however, only images on the web help me to remember anything about it. When looking at photos online, I remember the decor being a bit loud and the bed being a bit uncomfortable. Beyond that, I'm not too sure there's anything else to say. I'll give it two stars just for the fact that there are no negative memories that come to mind.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Zentan is the brainchild of Hong-Kong native chef Susur Lee, and it shows off not only his culinary skill, but also his worldly urban flair; he opened two side-by-side restaurants in Toronto, and is based at The Donovan's sister hotel in Manhattan. In addition to an outstanding sushi and sashimi selection, the nicely pithy menu offers plenty of fully cooked fusion entrées for vegetarians and the sushi-shy. A respectable wine list features sakes which read like a shelf of romance novels: Wanderin... read more
Great Service, But Unlike Four Seasons no Loyalty Marketing – I enjoyed Raffles L'Ermitage and the beautiful rooms and suites, at the time, the largest in Beverly Hills. They deserve the Mobil 5 Star, which if you are a luxury traveler, everyone knows that AAA 5 diamonds are easy to obtain as Mobil is totally objective, unlike Conde Nast, whom have to please advertisers. The place is beautiful and the bathtub is great as is the staff, although somewhat cold. I felt that as I spent US$10,000 at that location, it would have be... read more
One Of The Best – This is the usual hotel i stay at when i come back to SF. It has everything you need without a lot of hassle.
Good, kind, genuine service – This is a great boutique hotel. Perfect location on Sutter St. near Union Square. The lobby is warm and inviting as are the staff. Great value vs. price.
A literary bent to a stylish hostelry. – The Scene Modeled after New York's famous Algonquin circa the 1930s, this salon-style hotel (formerly the Orchard) showcases well-known Bay Area authors, such as Jack London and Ambrose Bierce. In the extensive lobby library, their works line the mahogany bookshelves, and their portraits brighten the beige walls. In keeping with the bookish theme, poetry readings are held once a month in the lobby. The Details The hotel was opened by the Joie de Vivre group in 1997. It sits near Union... read more
Elegant yet Comfortable – For such an expensive hotel in such prime real estate neighborhood - this place felt more homey that haughty. I recommend skipping room service to enjoy an elegant breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Enjoy goat cheese and heirloom tomato omelettes under palm trees on the adorable side patio.
Wonderful hotel, fabulous customer service -- Stay here when you're in San Francisco. – My husband and I came for our anniversary, and we loved it. This is no chain hotel--this place is chock full of personality. The hotel has charming decor, a beautiful lobby and bar, and one of the best restaurants in the city (it's tiny and seats roughly 24 people). Everyone here is friendly and helpful. There's a complementary glass of wonderful wine offered every evening. Steinbeck and Hammett quotes painted on the walls (if you love bo... read more
