Killen's Barbecue

About this business

Having opened its doors in 2014,Killen's Barbecue is a highly popular local hot spot serving Texas style barbecue. The no-frills restaurant concentrates more on food than ambiance as can easily be witnesses by the contrast of the utilitarian set-up and the perfectly-cooked, slow-grilled dishes. Come in early before the food runs out and have your fill of pulled pork, brisket, rubs and smoked sausages. You can try out the full variety of meat options with their six meat plate or simply get a sandwich for a light lunch.

We got 4 plates, 3 with brisket, and the brisket was mostly chucks of FAT!! and yes I know that meat has fat in it but It was in all the 3 plates. For the price we paid this is extremely disappointing. Next I had to correct my order twice I asked for 2 plates of brisket with sausage only got 1. I also asked for chicken fried chicken and never got my number I was letting people skip in front of me until the guy finally asked what I was waiting for. Then I waited for about 20 min for my chicken fried chicken. My whole family f... read more

Finally had lunch here yesterday after hearing about it for years. Had the 3 meat plate with brisket, ribs and sausage. Brisket and ribs were top notch but the sausage was the worst tasting sausage I've ever had. Horrible taste took away from everything else. If you know good BBQ then you know it shouldn't need sauce on it. Kinda like putting ketchup on a steak. Brisket and ribs were the best I've found in the Houston area so far. Both were tender and full of flavor. For sides I had the cream style corn and potato salad. Both... read more

Business response:

Obviously we have to have BBQ sauce, do we need it? No, but 1/2 of the people put BBQ sauce on the meats before they even taste it. We make our own BBQ sauce from scratch everyday. Not in a bottle like most. But, we respect your opinion. Sausage is also a all meat sausage we make which is my God fathers German recipe. Again, most do not appreciate a all meat no filler sausage. Thanks for your critique

I love Killen's, the meat is at best 5/5 and at worst a 4.8/5 from all the times I've been. Love the mac and cheese! My favorite things to get is a 4 meat plate with double brisket and turkey and pork belly... And of course, a beef rib! I come down to Pearland to eat Killen's from DFW. Never disappoints! We have some pretty good BBQ around here, including pecan lodge in Dallas. But I still prefer Killen's! The only thing pecan lodge has on Killen's is their tumbleweed cookie. But Killen's just be Killen the competition on al... read more

This place is about an hour away from home so we tried a bit of everything and made sure to bring home leftovers. Was not disappointed. Beef rib was amazingly tender, the sausage was flavorful as was the brisket and pork ribs. Understandable why this place has got a line wrapping around the building. Friendly staff, great food, place could use another drink machine.

Ribs, cream corn and mac n cheee were excellent. Loved the sweet sauce also. Would have more than one person taking orders so the line moves quicker.

Had the 6 meat platter since it was our first time. We wanted to try everything, and everything was melt in your mouth, fall of the bone finger licking good. Theirs still a few desserts we haven't tried so we will definitely go back for that and more.

The food was not worth the hype, and the people taking orders had bad attitudes. The long line outside could also be eliminated with a better ordering system.

Best damn Texas BBQ you'll ever eat. The meat is quality. You can tell that Ronnie holds strict standards for what he will serve his patrons. Pit master is on point. The flavor is heaven on earth. The only problem is I need another stomach to put it all in. Be sure to buy extra to reheat in the oven. It doesn't get any better folks.

Business response:

Thanks for the feedback, Deana. Glad you enjoy.
