Best Greek restaurant in the City period. – I am a New Yorker and i love good Greek food. There are many good Greek restaurants in the city, but like Kellari Taverna no other. I visited Kellari for the first time last weekend for a friends birthday party and i loved it. The hostess the waiter and the food was all amazing. I had fresh Whole fish called Lavraki or Bronzino and was cooked perfectly. The fresh fish display had from Live lobsters to a 10 pound Red Snapper. It's been open for less than a year and i didnot know abo... read more
Excellent Food! – I had friends visiting from out of town and decided to try Kellari for the first time. I was very impressed. Oh my God!!! The fish was to die for. I love the decor too (warm and cozy atmosphere), but the food is what really stands out. I wish we didnt have a play to catch, cause I would have loved to stay longer and try a few more dishes. Maybe on my next visit. I highly recommend this place. Its a classy Greek Taverna.
Terrible Food and even Worse Service – We had a terrible experience this past weekend. We had an early reservation and were seated promtly by a very nice hostess. When the server approached our table instaed of a welcome we were told we could not order food for a half hour because the kitchen was not ready but could have a cocktail . Well, why take a reservation if you are not ready. We were given old bread because the bread had not arrived yet. Once the food arrived it was just plain bad. The mousaka was cold in the center ... read more
Perfect couples spot – I have to say that I totally enjoyed my experience at Kellari's. The food, wine and professional service were the best. It brought me back to flavors of my childhood, coming from a family of Mediterranean roots. We loved the fish and chicken and especially the Greek wine. Although, the taramasalata was a bit mellower than my family makes--it was still good.
Excellent! – Everything about Kellari is excellent. The food, the atmosphere, the service--all of it. Definitely recommended. I would go back ANY day.
Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. – This was my first Greek experience. The atmosphere was lovely. We didn't have a reservation, but the hostess was awesome and received us with a smile. The food was delicious. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable -he wasn't Greek, but he was able to pronounce and explain everything, even the manager came by to welcome us. We were only three so we ordered different appetizers and had a blast. Everything was fresh and delicious. I am hooked on the octopus and can't wait to go back. O... read more
Best Greek food – I have been many times in this restaurant and I find it to be one of my personal favors in New York for the food, fresh fish and friendly service. Try it you will like it.
DO NOT GO HERE!!! – I have never been as outraged by terrible service as I was at Kellari Restaurant. After messing up our reservation numerous times, we were rewarded for our patience with further incomptence and rudeness. Maybe it was a fluke... It would be a good idea for the owners and mangers of Kellari to remember that there are MANY elegant upsacle Greek restaurants in NY. With that kind of competition I suggest that they work out the kinks in their customer service.
I was warned! – My sister warned me not to go here. She had a bad experience with the service, but I decided to try it nonetheless. Well, I hate to say it but she was right! The service was indifferent at best and the food was not much better. As a chef, I wanted to give it another try, just in case they were having a bad night. So, I went again. Alas, once again I was disapointed. Too bad because it is a pretty restaurant.
