Friendliest Service in NY – My friend I visited Kellari in November 2007 on our last day in New York. In fact it was our last supper there. We experienced the most friendliest service and recpetion than anywhere esle in NY. Safien the bar manager was a star. As we left I mentioned that there was one saying which I thought you should get printed and put up behind the bar. "Years, Lover and Glasses of wine are things that should never be counted." Safien promised to have it and placed behind the bar. Go and see if he has kept ... read more

Very nice place! – I went there last night with a good friend from college and we got a bunch of appetizers instead of entrees. The veggie "chips" were great (most things fried are), the meatballs were savory and better than I expected, the rice and spinach mostly made of spinach and tasty, and the Greek salad a delicious bowl of tomato chunks, feta, and spices. I was not so impressed with the Kellari oregano French fries, nothing special. We got a bottle of Greek Cabernet Sauvignon that was very enjoyable. With the wine and... read more

outstanding fish – There's nothing bad I can say about this place. I only wish it was cheaper so I could go once a week (though I did over the holidays). The food I fantastic, the waitstaff knowledgable and charming. They have the best oysters in the city (forget what you hear about Marlowe & sons). The wine selection is fantastic.

Very nice New York Restaurant – In a town where the standard is high for good Greek food, Kellari stands out. An army of male servers hustle all around you with the quickest service I have ever seen. The bar is almost always full with folks wating for a table. Their seafood is the best in town. Some meat dishes they have are huge and cooked to perfection. Very few have room for dessert here but the desserts are made in house and should not be missed. Good wine list with many Greek and domestic selections by the glass.

An incredible deal, amazing food, fabulous service – I was very pleasantly surprised by the amount and quality of food and service. I'm always a bit skeptical of dining in midtown but this place is really worth trying. The portions are sizeable, wine is priced very reasonably, service is so friendly and helpful and the lighting is perfect! An all around great experience. I can't wait to go again!

Food is superb, could do better with a new waitstaff – Walking into Kellari, it was a surprise. A pleasent one. Its really large, spacious, with tall ceilings. I did't get a sense of Greece, more of a Tuscan kinda feel, with dark heavy wood overtones, but still nice. So we all go to a restaurant for food, right? Well, it was great. A Greek dinner always starts out with a large amount of "mezedes" (appetizers). The salad (xoriatiki) with excellent farm tomatoes, oysters, octapus, tzatziki, and grilled calamari (not a favorite... read more

Editorial Review – Cozy Midtown gem serves authentic Greek dishes and also offers an array selection of cocktails for a grand ol' time.

The best restaurant! – Living in a diverse city such as New York it is hard to make a good food choice and a restaurant like "Kellari" it is rare to find. I had an amazing experience at Kellari Taverna one Friday night starting at the hospitability of the staff and the food which was so fresh and delicious. This cozy restaurant is right in the center of the most famous city, New York. It is classy and romantic place with a combination of old tradition with the new one.Kellari offers many jewels of the sea"fish", meat for mea... read more

Opa! – Hands down the best greek restaurant in the city. Just walking in and taking it all in you know you're in for something special. The decor combines modern sensibility with a rustic warmth and I was impressed by how it all works together. Over all dinner was just amazing but to me the winner was my appetizer; the sea bass fritters with the garlic mousse and beets should be an entree!
