Everything went well… Doctor Donatto is brilliant.. kind… efficient and I never had any pain…It went smoothly and I should have done the surgery years ago!!!

Dr. Donatto is excellent! I’m so glad I found an ortho who specializes in feet. I needed a procedure to eliminate significant great toe pain. It took time to heal but my results are great. I felt very confident with Dr. Donatto. I also have a clinical background so, my impression is particularly informed.

I am a dual citizen, American/Canadian. My current residence is in Ottawa, Canada. I traveled to San Francisco to have Dr. Donatto operate on my foot. I consulted Dr. Donatto, after years of increasing pain and inability to walk/engage in normal activity. He immediately diagnosed the issues and I immediately scheduled surgery. It required steel pins in toes and a metal plate and screws re: a bunion correction. I wouldn't have gone forward if Dr. D had been less than excellent in every respect-obvious skill (he works with professional ballerinas and athletes), explanations of status, prognosis, answering questions, demonstrating the issues on x-rays. Dr Donatto is an excellent surgeon but his staff is highly incompetent. Lengthy hold times to call and try to reach someone, both pre and post op. Delays with post op equipment still weeks out from surgery. His surgery scheduler/medical assistant is well-intending but terribly incompetent. Overall an extremely poor and highly disappointing experience.

My partner just came home from an appointment sobbing - not because of Dr. Donatto but the terrible incompetence of his staff. The ER doctor advised us to get an appointment as soon as possible as her injury may require surgery and to not let the would heal. We've been tirelessly trying to arrange an appointment for the last week and a half only to be told by the doctor that - had he seen her a week ago - he might have recommended surgery but will now have to let the injury heal incorrectly... Terrible experience. Didn't explain well, Dr. seems to rush out of the room to another patient's room after one sentence to me "You're healing well". No details as to what to expect for next step for my treatment. I had to ask his assistant(?) before I get kicked out of my room (as a figure of speech), "Am I going to see Dr. again? If so, when & why?". Office staff weren't friendly either. All I ask for is a decent explanation, and a little compassion. Dr. Donatto has performed extensive hammertoe surgery on both of my feet - four toes on my right foot in 2018 and four hammertoes plus a bunion in 2020. He is extremely expert in this kind of surgery and my results have been excellent both in terms of functionality and aesthetics. If you have the kind of severe (toes crossing, totally rigid) issues I had I would highly recommend Dr. Donatto - that surgery is very complicated and you want the right surgeon.
