My son had his 2013 ***** with 35,000 original miles on it towed to Toyota Kearney Mesa after he got a warning of failed hybrid mode while driving on the freeway and immediately exiting and stopping. Toyota informed him that his coolant leaked into the engine and he would need the engine rebuilt. He was quoted $6000 to repair it. He agreed to the bid and they said it would take two weeks for the repairs. After two and a half weeks Toyota service department called him and he was told that it would be $12,000 for the repair! The worst customer service in San Diego car services!! I just made an appointment to have my sun visor checked and repaired; upon returning my car and seeing the expensive qoute, I decided I’ll just live with the original minor damage. It was only after a few days that I noticed that my sun visor is now just hanging by the cloth; I went back to complain but their guy/customer representative said that they didn’t touch my sun visor, I told him why is it hanging on it’s cloth only, he said he didn’t know. Females beware. Classic bait and switch tactics from the service department. I had my wife take the car in for a standard oil change. Should cost about $40.00. They tell her she has only two choices, $150-169 and needs a multi point inspection and a tire check. No option given for just an oil change. When I talked to the service advisor they said if she would have said "only an oil change". They also tried to say we requested the multi point inspection. Not true.

Service was done last month without resetting the service indicator. Attending service personnel was reminded of the issue and later offer premium wash, valid for 30 days. Visited the dealership to redeem the promised service, but was informed to wait for an Hour and Forty Five minutes (1h, 45min), then after an hour later was informed that the service is back up, then offer to call later. Several calls were made to assigned service personnel, but did not receive a call back. This service with an attitude.

Really terrible experience. The people over at Kearny Mesa Toyota pressured me into adding on items that were unnecessary. I got discounts from my car insurance and no one at the dealership 'knew' anything about it until I pulled out the paper I printed for it and suddenly it was all okay. The next day I tried to take off the items I had added on unnecessarily, to which I was told it was 'impossible to cancel', despite that language not being in the contract.
