Good Sushi – Kaneyama Japanese Restaurant offers a few drink specials which include Asahi beer and sake during their happy hour. No food items go on the happy hour menu, unfortunately. The prices are set relatively high, in my opinion, though the sushi is among the average. What I like about Kaneyama's sushi is that its nigiri pieces are noticeably larger than most restaurants' in town. horrible service – i been eating there a couple of years since i moved in town. There are always fresh fish and new stuff everytime. i even have the silver VIP membership. In past two months, i went there with my friend a few times, i wanna say we got almost no serivce. I understand that was dinner rush hour, or probably shor-handed at waitstaff. Good service, but poor taste on food – i found litte difference with other user. i been that place two days ago with friends. That is 3rd time i went in there. Honestly, i don't really recommed that place, but one of my friend loves the sushi there. overall wasn't so bad, but nothing outstanding, and price is little high for a place like that. Awful – We had 4 adults and 1 child. The food was awful. It hardly had any flavor at all. After we got our food the waitress never came to check on us. The best part was when I got home I was sick as a dog. I was throwing up among other things. I took some pepto and went to bed with the worst cramps ever all night long. Woke up the next morning and I am still sick. I would not recommend this place. FYI my 11yr old son loved the Ramen noodle.
Use the Sushi Bar avoid subpar waite stuff – II have mixed emotions about this one. Great food most of the time (I eat there often) Service on the other hand is 2nd rate and I am being charitable. Waitresses congregate by the register and when you try to get some service they will respond when good and ready. Horrific...never again. – Absolutely horrifically bad..YES, INCREDIBLY BAD.. lack of service, food had no taste so must not be fresh.. had sushi which was rubbery and smelly, worst tempura because it was similiar to Long John Silver's. I would not come back or recommend this place to even my worst enemy. Don't waste your time and money here.
Recommend this place! – Like the previous reviewer, I too, would definately recommend Kaneyama. Their sushi is great - so much so that we drive way out of our way to go here often. My favorite is to sit at the sushi bar - I enjoy the environment and watching the chefs create the dishes. This is not a fancy place, but neither is it too casual. Been going here for the past 10 years... – Honestly, Kaneyama has the BEST SUSHI in Houston! I've tried almost every single sushi restaurant in Houston and no other place comes close to this one. I'm sick of all the high class sushi places that have recently opened up in Houston...especially the ones that charge an arm and leg for their sushi just because they can. Want good service and good food? DON'T COME HERE! – My family and I went there last night; five adults in all. Food was very average and the salmon sashimi had absolutely no taste. We were served with the food at extremely slow pace, no one ever came by to ask how we were doing and struggled to get attention each time to remind them on items we ordered they forgot bring.
