Ate their this week. I love to cook and thought it lived up to Richard's name. Yes, expensive but very well prepared and Top Chef presentation and taste.

We chose Juniper & Ivy for our 25th anniversary dinner while in San Diego this past Friday night. Could not have chosen better. We have watched Richard since his first go on Top Chef, and have been admirers for years. Eating at J&I was as great as we had hoped. From the opening amuse to the ending dessert, every bite was revelatory and a testament to a great chef with an eye on the prize. Never heard of this restaurant, but my girlfriend was excited to take me there for my birthday. She was early, I got there on time. Unfortunately, We had to wait 35 minutes to get seated for our 'reservation '. What is the point of making a 7pm reservation if you still have to wait? We finally got seated on the lower level in the middle of somewhat cramped tables. The worst part was that the acoustics made conversation difficult. We spent dinner leaning in with hands to ears.
