I just celebrated the 19th year of losing my father, thanks to the treatments of Jose B. Melo. The cancer didn't kill him, the doctor did. I hope--and I really mean this--that he is now able to help patients, because 19 years ago, all he did was lie to us. He was never present for my father's chemo treatments, and when I asked his staff to explain things to my dad and me, they just referred me to Melo, who never returned my phone calls. Dr. Melo is OUTSTANDING - he REALLY cares about the patient, takes time with you and goes out of his way to help. The staff are amazing, so kind, warm, efficient - having had regular chemotherapy treatment there for the past three months has shown me just how great they are. If you have a choice, then choose Dr. Melo and his team, they made a very very difficult time easier, their caring and compassion we'll never forget.
There is something very wrong with this picture. After I placed 4 different phone calls to the office of Dr. Melo to be able to talk to someone, I was placed on hold every time. I did not even give the chance to ask a very quick question when I was placed on hold. After I was on hold for 15 minutes, they hang up on me. I asked a friend of mine to call. It was no difference. In 1985, at the age of 13, I started bleeding and bruising spontaneously, I was rushed to Plantation Hospital and Dr. Melo was called in. After a spleenectomy and years of chemotherapy, I am still alive...thanks to Dr. Melo. I REFUSE to see anyone else. He saved my Life. Even as a teen, I took control over my health. He made sure that I understood this disorder, and to be honest, he spoiled me!!!! Diagnosed with terminal lymphoma 9 yrs ago. Statistics show 5-6 year average life span.Dr. Melo keeps me going. Aside from occasional necessary treatments I feel great. Staff is wonderful.
My husband was diagnosis with leukemia 5 yrs ago if it wasnt for Dr. Melo he wouldnt be withus tody. Recently he was dx with another cancer and Dr. Melo handled everything vewry well
In 1991, my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I was warned, by a nurse at Plantation Gen, not to let the oncologists perform any treatments. She said she had "seen this before, they're going to give your father false hope." She was right. Melo told us that "with one treatment, we'll know if your father's cancer is responding or not."
