My calcium levels were through the roof. My doctor recommended parathyroid surgery and that led me to Dr. Lopez. I have never had surgery before, so I was very nervous about the entire process. From the time I scheduled the zoom consultation (thank you, Jazmine) with Dr. Lopez to the final surgery day, my overall experience was wonderful! Dr. Lopez was very informative and told me what to expect with surgery (before, during and after) - he definitely put me and my husband at ease. Parathyroid and Thyroidectomy surgery Dr Lopez did my parathyroid surgery and while at it found a nodule in my thyroid and had it removed, the pathology report came back to being malignant and he reached me and gave me a choice to accommodate and recommended total thyroidectomy which ended up being the right decision. Dr Lopez, Dr Politz and the entire staff at TGH Brandon were outstanding. Surgery can be scary and overwhelming, but Nurse Dana and the entire pre-op staff made the process easy. Dr Lopez, performed my parathyroid surgery on 10/12/22, and it was amazing. He followed up with me for 2 days after, and was genuinely concerned about my health and progress. Dr Lopez is very personal, and has a great bedside manner. He explains, listen, and answer questions that put you at ease. Morning of my Outpatient surgery I saw him 3-4 times to explain things, and answer my questions. Post op he came to see me before I left, and he also, called me that night at home to check on me. My post op course has gone as he explained it would, and I like that they give you a handout when you get there with post op expectations with their phone numbers in it. I would recommend him for sure.
I HIGHLY recommend the TGH Parathyroid Center. After being rebuffed by an egotistical, arrogant surgeon at Norman Parathyroid, my nephrologist referred me to Dr. Lopez. What a difference! I had parathyroid surgery there in 2015 so this was a repeat. Dr. Lopez was caring, thorough and transparent. You can feel reassured placing yourself in the capable hands of Drs. Lopez and Politz.
I don’t live in Tampa but of course had my surgery their and Dr Lopez was very informative from the first zoom call all the way through post-op and even calling me later that night! Everything was great and I couldn’t be happier and I feel a lot better as well
