My husband and I stopped at Jo’s today by chance after a long walk during a mini vacation in Newport. What a great find! Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the staff. All COVID protocols were followed in a manner that made us feel welcomed but totally safe. We wanted to sit outside so we were taken to this wonderful table on a little balcony with a great view of the avenue. Tracey, our waitress was phenomenal! She explained the menu, was truly friendly and engaged while providing adequate privacy and took care of us li... read more

First off, they are doing a good job on social distancing the tables which gave us comfort when dining. We had dinner here back in September during our trip to Newport. A friendly family restaurant with nice cozy atmosphere, delicious food and attentive service. We had a good time and really enjoyed our meal.

We were very impressed with this restaurant. Food was great and prices reasonable. Highly recommended. We were seated in a 2nd story balcony table which only had two table so we felt safe in these times. We had two plates and a desert. Seared Salmon and Steak frite were both excellent. Chocolate Torte was amazing.

Business response:

Thank you for this excellent review, Claude! Our seared salmon and steak frites are a guest and staff favorite and we're happy to hear you enjoyed them as much as we do. We hope to serve you again soon!

This place was worth the walk. It felt off the beaten path. Saw three or four gorgeous churches on the way. Every bite was absolutely delicious and a great dining experience without the crowds. Tables are mostly outdoors in cozy nocks and decks. ❤️

They are doing a great job with the covid social distancing! the service was absolutely wonderful! Wow. So, this place, Jo's American Bistro the Cesar salad, tasty, but the chowder, Y'all, I'm a picky chowder eater.... I usually add a squeeze of lemon and pepper. I added the pepper, but it really didn't need it and I didn't even bother with the lemon. This was AMAZING. The winner for the weekend so far. Perfect thickness, plenty of clams and taters and the flavor was just ideal. The salmon was PERFECTLY cooked, the farro and... read more
