Just Average – There is always the longest line up for this place. Having eaten there a few times, I have to wonder why. They do have a special during the week, which is cheap, but that shouldn't be enough to have such a following. The biscuits are good, but everything else is pretty ordinary. I'm giving Average because it's clean, and they have good service. While the food isn't anything all that it's still fresh and it's quality

Very Child Friendly – The staff here knows how to make a family feel welcome; ample seating, attentive and quick servers, and kid-friendly food make for a nice experience. The menu is filled with breakfast perfection, just make sure you don't mind a little wait for seating.

big portions. awesome for breakfast – Simply a very good and very popular restaurant. Breakfast is the sweet spot. Big, thick strips of bacon--wow!. Fun to eat at the counter. Expect a wait on weekends or if you're in a larger group. Nice touch to put coffee outside the door for those waiting. The host/proprietor (can't remember his name) is very welcoming.

There's Breakfast & then there is John O'Groats – Los Angeles is vicously and ferouciously competitive when it comes to Restaurants. 9 out of 10 restaurants in Los Angeles fail in 3 years or less. Even fewer survive, and at the pinacle are the restaurants that thrive. John O'Groats has endured the test of time. In a city that offers more eating options than sand on the beach, John O'Groats product is so good customers are willing to wait in line. No matter what any other review says, the market has spoken. Customers lining u... read more

Yummy! – Had crab cake benedict and fish n'chips. Great food. Was impressed that there was actually a lot of crab and they weren't trying to cheat by heavily breading it. The fish in the fish n' chips was great too - big pieces and perfectly fried.

fab host! – i went for b'fast on a sunday and though we waited for about 40 minutes, i was mildly entertained by the fact that tatyana ali ("ashley" from fresh prince of bel air) was in the restaurant waiting as well. that aside, the food was just o.k. i was underwhelmed by the biscuits (I was expecting "tall and fluffy" as described by my tour book, but received "small and crusty" instead) and the hashbrowns were a tad dry for my taste. the pancakes however, were a homerun. they were fluffy and tasty and the proportions wer... read more

Big Disappointment – After reading the reviews of John O' Groats, I went on a Saturday morning with a friend who was visiting from out of town. We had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated which would have been ok, except that the food certainly wasn't worth the wait. We had pancakes, eggs, homefries, bacon, and sausage, and while it wasn't horrible, I could have gone to IHOP and waited for less time and had food that was just as good, if not better. And, while the host was wonderful, our waitress seemed a bit overworked and... read more

Popular for a reason – I've been to John O'Groats on weekends and during the week. There's a reason why the wait is so long on the weekends, but on weekdays, getting a table is a breeze. I've always been happy with both the food and the service; on my most recent visit, the host noticed that I had a book and, unprompted, directed me to a seat with good light. Then the server pointed out that a variation of my order was a special that day, which saved me several dollars. The breakfasts are creative and tasty, and I liked the ... read more

Wonderfully fresh food – Terific food, and friendly service. Parking can be difficult, and you'll likely need to wait to be seated - but it's worth it!
