My biggest regret is not leaving Dr Crates a review while he was still alive. I had a very severe heel break and two bone bruises. I had gone to another doctor in Tyler who had misdiagnosed me and had given me the wrong treatment for 2 months. THAT doctor told me I just had an ankle sprain and didn’t believe me when I said I hurt so bad I really believed it was broke . I felt so hopeless. Dr crates found out was really the matter. He was so empathetic and got me the right treatment and kept me from being permanently damaged.... read more

I went to several Doctors for my club foot. Not one understood what was going on nor how to help me. Dr. Crates is amazing. I have arthritis in my ankle. He gave me injections until I had to have the arthritis scraped out. That has been 5 years.

I came to Dr. Crates after a failed bunionectomy. He sent me to see a Physical therapist, Serge, after just 8 PT visits I am better!!! I am very happy to say that a second surgery is not in my future! And, all of the office staff is friendly!

My college-bound athlete daughter saw Dr. Crates for a second opinion prior to surgery. We did not tell him anything about what other professionals had recommended. Dr. Crates took the time to clearly explain the images and injury to us, then laid out a reasonable, multi-facetted approach to likely avoid the surgery. While surgery may ultimately be a reality, we saw first-hand how he has earned his reputation for being a caregiver, first and a surgeon, second.

He’s an excellent surgeon! I worked for him & have seen the results from his patients.

I am now 2 years post surgery for a bunion. My foot is still painful, and my toes are now turning down at the end, like hammer toes. They continue to be swollen. I went to another doctor last year who x-rayed both feet and told me my foot that was operated on did not look corrected. I am very very disappointed in Dr. Crates. Foot surgery is difficult and recovery is challenging. I never sensed that he had much interest in my situation. I would NOT recommend him.

Would definitely recommend. First doc I saw said nothing but an ankle replacement for me. Went to Dr. Crates expecting confirmation of doc in Southlake diagnosis -- ankle replacement. Dr Crates said otherwise. Had arthroscopic surgery and biocartlidge and have felt great since surgery last November.

It took 3 years of pain, 2 rounds of physical therapy, 3 different orthotics, 1 CT scan, 2 MRI's, 5 x-rays, and 4 different doctors before I found Dr. Crates, who then properly diagnosed me with an accessory navicular. He did a modified kidner procedure and removed it. Almost 4 years after the pain started, I am finally able to play tag with my nephews, go on walks, wear cute shoes, and workout. His physician's assistant, Jackie is absolutely the best! Thank you guys!
