I have been going to Dr. Gearhart for over 30 as did my parents before me!! I swear by him and his staff as the best I have ever been to. If he ever retires, I don't know what I would do for a doctor. He has always went above and beyond everything he has done for myself and my family. I am so grateful for him and his staff.
First, the front staff are not very friendly. Dr. Gearhart is, what I would call, “old school” He is great if you simply have a cold or sore throat… But if you have anything more complex, he will always refer. He also will make a diagnosis and not explain it to you. Usually this is for the purpose of having blood work done, and I must say that just about everything he does is commensurate on on thing: Will insurance pay him! First, the staff are very rude and unfriendly. Concerning Dr Gearhart his bedside manner made me find another doctor.
Dr. Gearhart has been my PCP for 25+ years. He's very thorough and a wonderful doctor. I credit him for getting me straight into the hospital when I was having a heart attack. Any time delay and I wouldn't be here.
John has to be tops in being among the WORST doctors! He severely over medicated and misdiagnosed me in a number of areas. John prescribed unneeded numerous prescriptions (I suspect that he owns lots of stock in pharmaceutical companies.). This poor excuse for being a health care professional is the best example of what’s behind our failing health system. John is more about fattening his wallet than caring about anyone’s wellbeing! BEWARE!
Typical insurance controlled health care. Answers for joint pain(don't use it) 3 visits same answers, no X-ray,US or MRI. Anxiety( SSRI galore). Hundreds in copays and no answers or results. I have had to use doctors that do not work with insurance companies so that your healthcare treatment is not based on what insurance will pay for.
I waited 2 hours in the waiting room and then another hour in the patient room. That is my first criticism. My second is that he is --very-- slow to follow up in getting you a referral or presenting you with lab work.
I couldn't imagine giving him a negative review. I have been a patient of his, off and on anyway, for more than 10 years. He went way out of his way to do everything he can towards my disability paperwork. He is always friendly and respectful, and more importantly, compassionate.
