After weeks of delays and a rescheduled appointment, I finally met with Dr. Finkenberg, who immediately attributed my condition to a prior back surgery over 20 years ago, despite my pain being at least two vertebrae higher and unrelated to that surgery. My persistent feedback that I felt no pain in the noted area was dismissed. While I wasn’t seeking pain meds, surgery, or PT, he seemed more interested in pushing his lucrative little X-ray cottage industry. Dr. Finkenberg will not listen to you.

Always takes time to understand your needs. Wants to make sure you are always confident in his treatments. Follows up to make sure all is okay after a procedure. Couldn’t ask for a better Doctor!

I went to see Dr. Finkenberg in 2009 with terrible pain down me right leg. I had to give up tennis and other activities. He operated on my lower back, removing part of the 3 lowest vertebrae. My results were amazing. No more pain. I resumed normal activities. It is now 2023 and I am still completely pain free and not limited in any way. I am 83 years old.

This review is a year overdue, and I feel terrible about that, because the last time he saw me, I'm sure Dr. Finkenberg thought I was not a surgical success. I believe the last time he saw me in his office was four months after surgery when I was crying from ongoing pain and asking if I should go back to the ER (which he recommended and I promptly did). He performed a wide medial laminectomy + facetectomy + cyst removal on me (all at L4-5), in late October 2020. I had a very long recovery period filled with complications and... read more

If you’re looking for a doctor to hold your hand, engage in small chitchat, and prescribe you all the pain medication you could ever want, this is not the doctor for you. If your looking for a doctor to be straightforward, rely on objective findings when making clinical decisions and provide alternatives to prescribing pain medication, then Dr Finkenberg would be the doctor for you.

You can read other reviews to see my experience w/Dr Finkenberg is not an isolated incident. I went to him for back surgery & was still experiencing a lot of pain so he said call anytime & he’d get back to me ASAP. Despite my being in extreme pain he'd take 4-5 days to call! His bio says he “makes extraordinary efforts to find the correct diagnosis” but at checkups he'd say “I don’t know why this isn’t working”. It’s his job to figure it out & come up w/a solution! Every time I'd ask for pain management he’d prescribe a diff... read more

I had the misfortunate of meeting with Dr. Finkenberg today. This guy displays a total inability to even pretend to show concern about patient's well being. If he can't even pretend to show concern or true interest in a patient's condition, then the alternative is that he simply doesn't care. He provided no information as to what might be causing the pain, provided no assurances whatsoever that experiencing numbness and debilitating pain in my neck, elbow and hand for the past 6 weeks is no cause for alarm, didn't offer any ... read more

I recently had neck surgery a week ago from a fall a few years ago with Dr. Finkenburg. He is a very good surgeon and has much experience with spinal surgery and is highly regarded by his peers and those who work with him at the hospital. I researched him very extensively before choosing to have the surgery. He was very good to speak with and first suggested other means to relieve my pain which I liked a more conservative approach. After exhausting all options and reviewing current xrays and mri he said surgery was necessary... read more
