Highly successful outcome after lumbar spine surgery

After years of pain and trying every other possible treatment I met with Dr. Girasole. He recommended a laminectomy with spinal fusion of L4-L5. I had the operation at St. Vincent in late February 2024. Dr. Girasole , Dr. Mintz and their team explained everything to me prior to surgery . Within two weeks after surgery I was walking and driving with no pain. After four months of prescribed physical therapy I played golf for first time in a decade without pain. Dr. Girasole is a brilliant surgeon.
Dr. Girasole was amazing. He was very upfront and really went into detail about what was going on with me. Other doctors have not showed me that much consideration. I often feel like surgeons just want to cut and get paid but Dr. Girasole was not like that. I highly recommend him as a doctor.
Always there to walk you through things
Dr. Girasole was the 3rd doctor who I consulted after getting an MRI showing a bulging disc in my lower spine. The other two were like 'its a significant bulged disc but try physical therapy for three months and come back'. But with constant pins in needles in my left leg for over a year I was done waiting; it took long enough for someone take me seriously about needing an MRI that I was frustrated with having to wait to address what we found! I have seen Dr. Bernstein for a couple of different issues over several years. I have come to him time and again because he is a wonderful physician. Dr. takes his time to examine my problems and tries simple, non-invasive methods before he goes to surgery. He is cautious and thoroughand takes his time to communicate his ideas and possible plans in complete detail. Performed cervical fusion. after six months. I feel great. I have no issues with my back or neck no pains I’m back to playing sports at age 46. I think that’s a great thing.
