About this business

A neighborhood pub always filled with locals, Joe Jost's is an old-school diner that has been around since 1924. It is truly a local landmark that is mostly known for its devilishly delicious pickled eggs. In fact, these eggs are so popular, the restaurant decided to sell its dry-mix to make at home for those who cannot visit Long Beach. Additionally, Joe's has functioned as a pool hall for nearly a century as well, so when you are done with dinner, don't forget to hit the old snooker table before you go.

I sample this place like a delicacy. Probably been here less than 10 times even though I have done a lot of drinking in Long Beach over the years.

Best roasted peanuts ever. Best polish sausage sandwich with cheese and pickle on rye bread. Coldest schooners around. I’ve been going there on occasion since high school days in the 60s. Drinking sodas then. Good friendly bartenders with good service.

We are fourth generation Joe Jost family. My Grandpa started going here in 1924 when it opened because he was friends with Joe as he lived in the neighborhood. My father and uncle sold newspapers in the front of the bar as kids. My uncle lived in the apartments right across the street from Joe Jost which they are still there. After my dad came back from World War II he went into Joe Jost where all Servicemen money was no good. Then when I was a kid in the 70s my dad took me in for a root beer and a special at least once a mo... read more

First time there yesterday. My friend Randy has been going there since forever and said we had to stop after we went fishing. I was not disappointed. Great atmosphere and people to hang out with and share stories and drinks with. The food was awesome! Can't wait to go back.
