Dr. McGowen answers my questions and explains everything. He has done knee replacements on both knees and is very patient and kind.
Dr Megowen has done 2 total knees on me, I would see him again for another problem for sure.
8 month post operative Total Hip Replacement follow up. 2 Major areas of concern. Continuous groin pain and lower hip pain. He reviewed latest MRI and concluded his replacement was perfect with no explanation or suggestion of future tests to determine cause of pain with the exception of an injection in groin area to "calm things down". No other follow up was scheduled with him. He stated 2 times upon leaving the room " I wish I had never touched your hip".

I had my surgery the end of December and have seen both Dr McGowen and his PA Matthew Watson. I had the surgery, my husband (who was with me through every part of my surgery and recovery) and family were all very impressed with our treatment. It's been a very long time since I have not had hip pain. Thank you
I had knee replacement surgery done on both knees in March and then in June of this year. I was so impressed with the entire staff, from the surgeon to the front desk staff, the PA (Matt) and nurse (Cassie). They explained the entire procedure, never feeling rushed. The actual surgeries went smoothly, and my recuperation was, in my opinion, remarkable. I went from having two useless knees, barely able to walk, to fully functional. I credit this to the high quality of care I received.
Do not recommend. Negative experience with a cold stiff doctor. Didn't even see the doctor until well over 1 1/2 hr past my appointment time. No apology from him for the wait. Gave his opinion and recommendations with very little explanation and zero empathy. He spent about 10 minutes in the room after I had been there almost 2 hours. Getting a second opinion, even if he's correct I want to hear it from someone who at least pretends to care. The only positive is the staff, very nice.
Dr McGowen replaced my second knee in December of 2016. He is a low key and calm Doctor who in my opinion knows what he is doing. My scar is almost not seen and the staff is outstanding. My rehab was a bit rough due to my reaction to the "condones" taken for pain after surgery. He does a great job and tells it like it is- What most people should want in a Doctor. I can HIGHLY recommend him to anyone that is considering knee replacement surgery. Excellent Surgeon in my opinion!
I had a right knee replacement in May of 2015. He did a wonderful job and now 1 1/2 yrs later my knee is doing great. If you need a doctor who sits by your bedside and tells you just what you want to hear you may want to try someone else. If you want a doctor who is efficient, a perfectionist, and, yes, he is caring, too, Dr. McGowen is the surgeon you want.
