Religious folk tell us there are Seven Deadly Sins. Now New Yorkers can partake in the Eighth Deadly Sin, the to-die-for chocolate found at Jacques Torres D.U.M.B.O.. And a heavenly haven it is! Torres is one of the world's premier chocolatiers, making his chocolate from cocoa beans right before your eyes. The shop is designed in the oval shape of a cocoa pod and has views for all to see of the working machines in the factory where the magic happens. After seeing the beans turn to chocolate, let the champagne truffles and cr... read more

The "tour"could have been put together a lot better. There was no hands on activities at all. We did watch the lady make the drinkable chocolate and the chocolatier make the bom boms but that was it. We had some samples along the way as well. Overall I think it should be a guided tour not self guided. The admission prices should not be so high. It was neat to get a history perspective on chocolate which by far is one of my favorite sweets, it was would also be nice to have met or done an activity with Jacques himself.
The chocolate piece samples throughout the place were good, there were 6 in the museum exhibit and one at the end for the bon bon demonstration. The hot chocolate demo wasn't exciting, but I liked the sample. Overall the exhibit wasn't put together well, there was a lot of false information on the wall plaques, and the "tour" was extremely short. It's not worth the amount paid. For a great chocolate experience try the Rakka Chocolate tour in BK.
Simply the best. What else could you want. A must visit when in NYC
Not at all what I expected it wasn't a museum Tickets sales didn't show that u had to pay extra to make the chocolate It was misleading It's pretty much just a chocolate store
This was truly so much fun! It is a must do if you're in NYC! My Girl Scouts love chocolate (who doesn't) they throughly enjoyed this!
I think it is an exhibit that is a bit "pulled by the hairs". The information is useful only for someone who is not familiar with chocolate. Since most of the people that go to the 'museum' is already a fanatic, the show is quite slow and at times, dull. The demos are a good idea but again, too mechanical. Considering the Whitney charges $25 per person, the $15 charge here is a lot!! I bet if you charged nothing to come in, we would have bought $50 worth of chocolate after the "tour". I would consider another approach where ... read more
