Why don't you ask Native people to portray themselves and while you are at it educate yourself on the real history of this nation! What on earth are you afraid of?

Folks, most people in this country know by now that having white people dress up as another race is insensitive and not acceptable — especially after white people have spent a couple hundred years taking away that very culture by brute force and indoctrination. Wake up, show some awareness and respect!

Use real Natives for your parade, a lot of good native horseman in your state go get them!
Cultural ignorance isn’t an excuse for allowing white people to dress up like Indians in a way that they only know how: Black wigs, shoe polish faces, etc. You should be ashamed of yourselves!
After hearing of the tradition of racism where people dress up and pretend to be Native American in the parade, I'll be sure to skip your town on my upcoming road trip. Even when a spectator (who is Native) asked for parade workers to reconsider allowing such racism in the parade, excuses were made. Completely unacceptable.
