About this business

Not quite the oldest dining establishment in Albany, but one of the oldest, Jack's Oyster House has been serving patrons since 1913. It has remained in the same family since its inception as well, from grandpa to grandson, the kitchen has always been busy with the Rosenstein family. Its classic steak/seafood menu and proximity to the Capital Building make it a popular lunch and dinner spot for the city's politicians and power-elites. The menu changes often, however some of the delectable dishes that remain in rotation includ... read more

Went to Jacks last night for my husbands birthday with a group of 7. Our server and attendant were great. We never went without a drink. My husband wanted oysters which is why we picked Jacks. They were so good he put in a second order. Everyone loved their entrees which ranged from steak, to lobster, to cod, and crab cakes. The steak was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Everyone was too full for dessert, however they brought out a slice of divine chocolate cake for my husband, which everyone took a sample of. ... read more

Our first visit and we were not disappointed. The history of this restaurant opening in 1913 and still operated by the same family reflects on the quality of service and dining experience. The oysters were exceptional. The lobster seafood Bianco was amazing! We topped off the evening by sharing a piece of Jacks famous chocolate cake. Sinful!! The service was spot on - attentive and the courses were served in a manner that never made us feel rushed. A memorable evening indeed. Hope to visit again even though it's a 2 hour dri... read more

Went on Valentine's Day expecting for much more. Must have been understaffed as it took forever in between courses, was told rolls were still not done so main course arrived and never did get our salad/rolls, and never saw waitress again. After waiting 30 minutes had to wave down host for check. Wasn't compensated for our inconvenience either. Food was good but forgettable.
