About this business

Not quite the oldest dining establishment in Albany, but one of the oldest, Jack's Oyster House has been serving patrons since 1913. It has remained in the same family since its inception as well, from grandpa to grandson, the kitchen has always been busy with the Rosenstein family. Its classic steak/seafood menu and proximity to the Capital Building make it a popular lunch and dinner spot for the city's politicians and power-elites. The menu changes often, however some of the delectable dishes that remain in rotation includ... read more

I was looking forward to experiencing an amazing Valentine's dinner with my husband and 6 other couples. My first experience at Jack's was in 1986 with the Tricentennial Tulip Queen Court. Thirty-four years later the place hasn't changed but the food and service left me sad and disappointed. We had 7:30 reservations and was seated 15 minutes later. We didn't eat until after 9:15. It took 45 minutes to get a glass of ice after requesting it from two servers. The hostess had to make sure that happened. The food was bland and l... read more

The food was delicious and our waiter Jason was so courteous and efficient. The restaurant was very inviting. The rest rooms were clean .I would highly recommend your restaurant to my friends in the area.

My husband and I went to Jack's last night for dinner. Our waiter was Patrick and his service knocked it out of the park! Very professional. The food was scrumptious and done to perfection. The Boat Chowder is the best I've ever had and the oysters were sweet and delicious. I highly recommend Jack's and will be back.

This is a Classic Iconic restaurant steeped in the history of NYS capital city since 1913. Walnut paneling the thats original from the 1930s, a hand built bar out of your grandfather's era, classic black and white tile floor. Music out of the American Standards songbook. Food is between 4 and 5 stars, out of 5. Nt the best but very top tier. One of the few places for great oysters in the region. Cocktails are classic, properly made, generous pour. Not cheap, but well worth the money
