Dear Ivy, Get over yourself – The Ivy used to be a lovely place for lunch. No more. I arrived for my reservation only to be told I had to stand in the traffic pattern or the ficus to wait for my guest. After all the attitude I could handle from the "hostess" I was finally seated. A nice salad, a glass of wine, good table service -- and $90 (plus tip and valet) later, I left. Only to learn afterward that my guest had been seated elswhere - equally alone. Dear Ivy, get over yourself.
PLEASE! Don't waste your $!!!!! – The only good thing about this place was it's physical charm. Our entrees were awful! Especially my husband's. He had the lasagna...or should I say, pasta with frozen broccolini and spinach on the side. My first review of a restaurant ever but this place was so bad I felt like I had too. My spinach ravioli was bland and a frozen microwaved pasta dinner would've been better than this. The tuna tartar was delicious; however, they literally give you a tablespoon of the appetizer..that's it! Oh,... read more
Great ambiance, high prices – It's true that? The ambiance at the Ivy is indisputable. This is where the posh have been noshing for years and the place has history...and this is wha you pay for. It is definitely a landmark in Los Angeles and you must go there at least once. Now, I suggest snacking beforehand as the dinners end up quite pricey, especially if you get wine. The food is decent though. I would recommend the Ivy for tourists and people in LA for a short time, but for Angelinos, there are lots of better, less expen... read more
Don't go for the food – The IVY is a fun place to go. There is a happening crowd there. THe food is good but for the price there are better places out there.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! – Extremely poor service, rude waiters! Meals were cold and some dishes were so bad, they had to be returned! For such an overpriced restaurant, very BAD service & food!!! Manager was extremely rude too!!! Added bonus were the FLIES all over the place!!! Will not recommend this place to anyone!!!
its ok... – The food was really amazing, I've been there last saturday with my family and they loved it!! Such a nice enviroment!!!! The only thing that wasn't so good is the valet! The manager guy is an completely a - hole and rude.. They didn't even open the doors for my kids! If we decide to came back next time I'll look for a public parking
A little overpriced, but you're paying for the view – I like this place-- good food, great patio seating area with a great view. If you want more privacy, the back room is nice too. The food isn't bad at all, its just a little overpriced... but hey, its a restaurant on Ocean Ave. and you have to consider the much more expensive restaurants adjacent to the Ivy. Overall, I think this place is a good place to eat if you have guests and want to take them to a posh/trendy place on the beach, but don't want to spend too much money... read more
Pricy but Good – This place is more of an experience. The food and the service are truly worth the cost. You do not come here every day for dinner, more for a very special occasion. You have to try this place at least once...it truly is an unforgettable experience.
An ok experience – The food was ok.
