What an awful experience. My Wife has an allergy to spices, and we told the waiter at the time of ordering. He said that what she had ordered was fine. Her fish and chips had a spicy batter, a spicy salsa and a spicy tartar sauce. When we pointed this out to the waiter he first said there was no spice on the batter, but in the tartar. He then offered to get her a cobb salad after her starter was a caesar salad. So my Wife decided to have a burger medium to well done. Terrible service. They served us food that triggered an allergy even though we warned them before. We found out they lied about the contents once we left and called to "ask again". Before we left the owner came to our table and said "we don't wanna serve people like you!" I was a patron of this restaurant for over 10 years. I will never go there again. The name of the man was Richard Irving and he is the owner.
CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT!! The food at The Ivy was good, not amazing, but good. It was incredibly overpriced and no celebrities were anywhere to be seen (just saying so you don't expect it). My score would've been at least 3 stars if a fraudulent $60 tip was not added to my less than $60 bill. The tip that we wrote in was $9 so there is no way that this was a simple mistake. SHADY! I guess they don't pay their employees well enough even after gouging customers with outrageous prices for average food.

impressive atmosphere, but food is ok – If you want to go somewhere that is celebrity struck with paparazzi hanging out, then this is the place. If you are looking for a place with good food, this is not the best pick. The food here is ok. The other bad side to it is unless you are a “somebody”, people here are a little snotty to the average customer.
Come here to impress your guest! – The Ivy is a landmark. It is also pricey so a place not many of us can go to regularly. That being said the reputation and ambiance make it the ideal restaurant to take a visitor you want to impress. Women love the large salads and men can enjoy the variety of meat and fish dishes. Obviously, patio seating is preferable!
The best! – Amazing food across the board. Outstanding quality. The service could be more attentive and the hostess should loose her arrogant attitude. The place is pricey but absolutely worth spending the money.
When in LA drop by – What is Los Angeles without a trip to the IVY.. If you have never been, it's a place to head to lunch so you can see all the celebs who are looking to be seen! The food is very good, especially the Swordfish Taco.. (to die for) . The vibe, exactly what you expect, photographers stationed across the street waiting for a picture - overall a nice place to sit and take in the sights!!
