One of many offshoots of the original Ivar's Acres of Clams, the Salmon House represents the Seattle institution's attempt at contemporary dining. Located in a replica Indian longhouse, the restaurant features salmon and meats alder-smoked on the open-pit Indian-style barbecue. The chef does best with straightforward seafood preparations. Stopped for lunch on a busy Tuesday where my hubby and I were running from one appt to another. Day was heating up but we walked into Salmon House about 11:30, just before most lunch patrons. Greeted nicely and seated by the windows with a great view! Good service ... got cold drinks, then ordered meals.
