Just what North Austin Needs! – I have patroned the Iron Cactus North quite frequently in the past several months. I was wowed on my first visit by the tasteful dishes, the attentive service, pleasant ambiance, and smoking permitted bar!
Consistently Terrible Service – I have been to the Iron Cactus north location three times, and every time have had horrible service! Slow and inattentive, and they don't do much to win back your business. My most recent visit was the worst: We had a party of 10 for a birthday, but the server was so slow that we only had two rounds of drinks the whole time, plus two meal orders were screwed up, I got an $8 drink instead of the $3 one I ordered, and only after we spoke to a manager did we get an extra server at our table -- an... read more
Great Lunch – Better than average size lunch portions with a wide variety of Fusion Southwest/Mexican dishes. Great atmosphere for business lunch!
TexMex? – Why in the heck I every ordered it I'll never know, but the beef fajitas were the toughest thing I have attempted to eat in a long time! My father also attempted to eat some beef here that they were trying to pass off as carne asada on a salad..(same type of beef).. at least the lettuce was okay. The management did see fit to "discount" one of the meals for our troubles. Thank God Austin has a lot of good places to grab a drink and tapas, after this meals!! My wife's special was good however.
Great Time! – Our visit was impressive! The staff had a great attitude, the food is still top notch and we love to go there. Of all the times before we had never noticed their patio in back, best in North Austin. WE have seen these guys grow up in this town and are pleased they have a location North. Whenever we are Downtown we only eat there. Margaritas are great, my husband just became brave enough to sample a Tequila flight! Now he is hooked, we 6 different tequilas in our bar :-)
Poor service!!! – Frankly, I was appalled at the service and the poor quality of the food at the Iron Cactus on the north side. Our server had a grand total of 3 tables to serve and it still took almost 45 minutes after the end of the meal to get our check. Our ordered dinner salad never arrived, and waters took 3 requests to arrive. And when they finally did, they were not refilled. Oh my goodness!!! – My fiance and I had the very best time with our friends, and the Salmon was the freshest I've ever had. The Mexican Martini is the best in town. Our server was very sweet and helpful with the menu and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you Iron Cactus!!!
Sunday Retreat – We had the very best time this past Sunday. The brunch buffet is "hands down" the best in town. We have gone the past 3 weeks in a row and it gets better and better. The manager Paris is quite a host. He remembers us every time we come in. This restaurant is now our special Sunday retreat. I urge anyone who reads this to go immediately.
