It was so very interesting to tour this old historical site. There are thousands of stories within these walls and the great volunteers were able to share some of those stories. It was a great day even with the rain. Thank you very much!
We enjoyed our tour today. Very informative, lots of history, and a nice sized group for asking questions.
I didn't mind the three hour wait to get inside. It was a great tour and a huge part of History that should be up kept. So many possibilities to make is a great tour place for Lee County.
Drove over 3 hrs with friends on our motorcycles. I didn't think this was going to be a big deal, but WOW!!!! When we got there at 1:30, the line was SO long! This is definitely something people want to see! We jumped into line, waited and waited and waited. But once we got in for our tour, it was AWESOME! This needs to be done more often. (we lucked out, in our group was an actual past resident of ISP and he was the best person for the information we received) Please Keep This Going in the future!!!
Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers for giving up their Sunday to try to accommodate the mass that showed up to see this beautiful building!!!!! It was worth the wait in line (about 2 hrs and 45 min) but I would do it again in a heartbeat!!! I'm hoping that everyone realizes what a treasure this is for our state. It isn't just Iowans that would love to see the inside! Thank you all, again!!!! #HIST #ThisIsIowa
Thanks so much for opening the Ft Madison Penitentiary on sunday. Although their was a huge line to enter the staff welcomed everyone as best as they could. My wife and I both had sunburned faces but well worth it getting to see a piece of Iowa's history. The guards answered questions the best they could and we're very welcoming to all who came. Good job. Hope more of it is opened in the future.
