IE has made a running change to the silicon flex tube that fits between the pipe and the bell housing for the filter which makes more a much different look once installed on a GTI. This took me by surprise when I had everything installed and then compared my work to the photos in the instructions and on their website which show a much cleaner install. Matt, We recently updated the design of that hose to include a small flex-hump in the design. This was to further increase the long term reliability of the product by reducing stress on that coupler under engine load and movement. This is a a very small visual design change, I'm sorry you found it so surprising to have your black hose now include a small hump.
