You get what you pay for – The India oven provides authentic Indian Cuisine at very reasonable prices, but don't expect more than that. This is truly a family operation and they do not put any effort into frills that Americans expect from a restaurant. Service is minimal but adequate and the interior of the restaurant leaves much to be desired in terms of atmosphere. HOWEVER! Waited an hour for burndt food – I so want to love this charming little place with the fabulous fresh baked Naan, but they will need to improve their service. We waited an hour between the basket of Naan and the main course. It became obvious why, as the meat was burndt to that dusty dry quality that needs a big water chaser to wash it down. The worst service I've ever had. (EVER!) – At 8:00pm I placed a call to India oven. After yelling at the other servers for a full minute, the woman on the phone took my order and told me it would be ready in 30 minutes. Thirty minutes later, we arrive at India Oven. No less than 30 minutes after that, one full hour after we had ordered, we still hadn't recieved our food. great food, good price! – I have eaten at the India Oven on several occasions, and although tonights experience wasnt the finest, this is still my favorite Indian restaurant in Portland. Tonights feast consisted of the Mushroom Mattar and the Bombay Aloo new dishes for both of us.
