I had a problem around tax time where I was charged like $30 at a paywall after preparing taxes that because of my income were supposed to be FREE. my family member paid the fee and I spent april- july31st attempting to call them and waiting on hold to be transferred to endless holds that never so much as reached a voicemail. My spouse and I spent many hours preparing our 2019 tax information so that it would be organized and clear for the preparer. Nevertheless, the preparer NEVER LOOKED AT IT, completing our taxes using the standard deduction. Then he charged us hundreds of dollars for his shoddy work. If we had not looked carefully at the preparation, we would have not realized an amended return was needed. This is entirely too long of a story to completely detail, so I condensed it down. The first time I went into H&R Block The IRS ended up sending me letters and thankfully I had "purchased" their peace of mind protection, because I was told without that I'd have been on my own. Fast forward to this year. I went into the office to have my taxes prepared, I had a form from my student loans but they were put on hold because I started school again so I ended up only paying $10 in interest. Terrible service. Put on hold for 2.5 hours because they failed to file my taxes, then failed to notify me. After being on hold that long the customer service representative had a bad attitude and hung up on me. Outright lie claiming they have an “accuracy guarantee” for filing.
I came to this office because I was unable to gain acres to the H&R Block app. The customers service line was not helpful at all and kept hanging up on me which i felt was really POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. They didn't submit my State Taxes. I didn't find out until a week before the July 15th deadline. I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to get a hold of them in an attempt to get this figured out. What kind of Scam are they running? I will NEVER use them again. Their customer service is crap and they are obviously not trustworthy
This seems to be a bad year for H & R Block! How can our local office be closed today when we've been waiting for our finished return for weeks!! Never had a problem before. If I could give no stars, I would. I have been helping a friend with his tax returns this year. I needed his adult son's tax returns from last year, mind you the adult (22 year old child lives with his father permanently). I looked over his son's taxes from H&R Block and noticed horrible errors and false information. Besides the errors, which now require an amendment be filed for the last 3 years, the rep also charged this kid for extra services that no child with an income of $5,000 needs. Was simply going to H&R Block at **** ***** *** ** ******** ***** **to take a scheduled exam this morning. The agent, who later answered the phone as Jennifer, not only showed up 20 minutes late, but was rude, condescending and refused to let half of us take the test. I can understand that there was a scheduling error out of her control, but the fact that she was late opening the store, swore at us, and then yelled at us about something that was also out of our control was unacceptable.
