The report is very clear and easy to understand. We really liked our inspector, Jim Sodos. He explained issues clearly and gave great advice.
The inspector was very thorough and approachable. He kept us updated throughout the whole process and went through the inspection report in its entirety with us. He answered our questions and made sure we understood everything before leaving. He also was very clear about next steps (e.g., when he would get well water sample back and how we can access our report). I felt very confident after the inspection and was given a business card in case I had any questions.
Our inspector did not go into the crawl space of the home we had inspected. This was all about a year ago and I was trying to take the high road and not say anything negative about HouseMasters. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Because of the neglect in doing his job, and failure to see jerry rigged plumbing, we have had major plumbing bills. His not going into the crawl space resulted in his not seeing that we needed to have 2 lentils poured that cost just under $8000.00. Today's issue is what broke this camels back. Avoid this company like the plague that they are. Not only was the home inspector not competent, Housemaster would not accept any accountability for his work. After moving into our home, we discovered that the sump pump has been disconnected from the storm sewer and hooked into the sanitary sewer - a clear code violation. Even though the inspection report looked at drainage and the sump system, the code violation was never mentioned. HouseMasters is my favorite inspection company in the area. I refer all of my clients to them. Seth Catron is an amazing inspector and takes it upon himself to not only inspect but to educate clients on their new home. I give them five stars for their 10 star service!
