Very romantic!! The gardens are beautiful!!! Tour of the mansion was amazing and learned a lot from the guide. Very happy and pleased to have celebrated our engagement there where my fiancé proposed to me in the Japanese garden house!!
I love this place. You are always warmly welcomed. Tour guides very knowledgeable. Home is beautiful with antiques I have never before seen. And the gardens....so peaceful. Highly recommend, even on an exceptionally warm day. Plenty of shady areas outside and comfortable air conditioning in all the inside areas. Go and enjoy.
Its like going back in time. You can have a glass of tea and walk the beautiful gardens. Just enjoy the simple southern way. Whether you are having lunch or dinner it's worth the experience. The staff is amazing .. and Kevin is always ready to share a laugh. The way the staff treats you and serves you makes all the difference. Oh and the food is out of this world.
Houmas House is a great place to chill and enjoy the home, cottages, Turtle Bar and great food. It is dog friendly, so our Golden Doodle, Wrigley had stayed there 5 times this year. We love the place and it is perfect to get 3 or 4 couples, rent cottages, sit on the porch and have cocktails with friends, visit the Turtle Bar, then have an great meal in the restaurant. Breakfast the next day is great, then we return to Baton Rouge after a great Staycation.

We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and home. The food was fabulous!!
